Ragging

What is Ragging?
According to the Supreme Court of India following, categories of ragging are as follows -
  • Aspects of ragging psychological, social, political, economic, cultural, and academic dimensions.
  • Any activity that disrupts the student from regular academic activity.
  • Any type of financial extortion, pressure, forceful expenditure. 
  • All kinds of physical abuse.
  • All kinds of abuse via all types of communication modes.
  • Humiliation, mental torture.
Actions against students that are found indulged in Ragging -
  • Debarred from taking admission in any technical institution in India.
  • FIR (First Information Report) against the culprits.

  • Depending on how serious the offence is, following are the other punishments -
  • Cancellation of admission.
  • Suspension.
  • Cancellation of Scholarship.
  • Expulsion from Hostel.
  • Fine of INR25,000/-
Why you should not involve in Ragging -
  • It is immoral.
  • Student may commit suicide due to your activity.
  • It disturb academic career.
  • Strict actions are taken against offenders.(As per order of Supreme Court)
